Information Exchange Network - June 2007
A presentation from Judith Pearce, from the Wembley Disability Benefit Centre, provided an insight into the way in which decision are made, with tips to enable people supporting applicants to present their case in the clearest way.
The group also looked at the national consultation paper on Blue Badge Parking. The suggestions to be fed back included:
- the addition of a tactile indication of which way up the badge should be placed for passengers with a visual impairment
- a re-design to stop it slipping into the dashboard air vent
- the clock to be plastic rather than cardboard for durability
- training for decision makers issuing Blue Badges to a national accredited standard.
The Information Exchange Network brings together professionals from Surrey's voluntary & statutory sectors who are involved in the provision of disability information. The next meeting is on 4th September (venue to be confirmed). If you are interested in attending please contact Hazel Plastow.
